4th and 5th Streets Near Union Market Converted to Two-Way Operations

(Washington, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced today that the conversion of 4th and 5th Street NE between Morse and Penn Streets NE (near Union Market) from one-way operations to two-way operations are complete and operational starting Monday, May 20.

The project creates better vehicular circulation, enhances pedestrian mobility, and improves overall safety in the corridor. The traffic improvement measures include improving pavement markings including crosswalks, centerlines, and stop bars and adding stop signs and parking signs.

The enhancements were recommended by DDOT and completed as part of the planned improvements by developers in the Union Market area.
