Signature Open Streets DC Event - 7th Street NW



We are closing over a mile and a half of 7th Street to cars and opening them to people to freely bike, walk, and engage in a number of fun and social activities for the whole family on Saturday, June 4th. From Shaw all the way through the Penn Quarter, there is programming related to transportation safety, health, and fitness. You’ve never seen 7th Street like this before!

The event will take place from 9 – 3 pm. Don’t forget to bring your tennis shoes, water bottle, and a hat!

 

 

Virtual Public Meeting – Met Branch Trail - Blair Road to Piney Branch Road Project NW



The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a virtual public meeting to discuss the Metropolitan Branch Trail - Blair Road to Piney Branch Road NW. DDOT will present design concept updates and receive community feedback. This is the second public meeting for this project, and DDOT will share updates to the proposed design and project schedule. Public Meeting Notice: PARK(ing) Day Virtual Information Session



The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a virtual public meeting to provide information on how to participate in the upcoming PARK(ing) Day event. PARK(ing) Day is scheduled for Friday, September 16, and allows for the temporary transformation of on-street parking spaces to pop-up parks. The event time has been extended three hours from previous years, allowing for pop-up parks between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Residents, businesses, and community organizations can apply.

Virtual Public Meeting – Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge Project Meeting #3



The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the National Park Service (NPS) will host their second public meeting to update the public on the construction progress made year to date and outline the construction activities that will occur in the next phase of the Rehabilitation of Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge project. DDOT will continue to rehabilitate and construct more the 3.7 miles of the paved, multi-use trail, which spans Wards 1 through 4 from M Street in Georgetown to Broad Branch Road NW.

Bladensburg Road Multimodal Safety and Access Study – Virtual Public Meeting



The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a virtual public meeting to discuss the recently launched transportation study of Bladensburg Road NE between Benning Road NE and Eastern Avenue NE. The meeting will provide an overview of the study’s purpose, goals, schedule, and details of traffic safety issues along Bladensburg Road, NE. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for residents to share their concerns and desires for transportation and safety improvements on Bladensburg Road, NE.

Statement on Potential DC Circulator Operator Strike

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation has been advised by RATP Dev USA, our contracted operator for the DC Circulator, of a potential strike, beginning May 1, with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689, the union representing drivers. We remain optimistic that both parties can reach an agreement, and we urge both parties to maintain service operations for our residents while remaining at the table. A strike would severely limit and/or interrupt Circulator services along routes.
