The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites you to a public meeting to discuss the start of construction for DDOT’s Pennsylvania Avenue West Streetscape Project (Penn Ave West). DDOT will provide an overview of the project, including the construction schedule, impacts, and benefits. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how the project will enhance safety, accessibility, and public space along this section of Pennsylvania Avenue NW. In Ward 2, Pennsylvania Avenue West is a vibrant corridor featuring restaurants, bars, boutiques, small businesses, retailers, and office buildings. It is adjacent to George Washington University and George Washington University Hospital. Visitors arrive by Metro bus, car, bike, and foot to experience the neighborhood’s unique character, attend local events, live, work, and shop. As part of DDOT’s mission, the Pennsylvania Avenue West Streetscape Project will increase safety, enhance the quality of life for residents, and improve sustainability, through thoughtful planning and engineering solutions aligned with DC’s Vision Zero initiative. This project will transform Pennsylvania Avenue West by creating a safe and vibrant corridor with multi-modal infrastructure and improved public spaces, spanning from the east side of Washington Circle to 17th Street.
