The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federal-aid program that provides funding for the development, renovation, and maintenance of recreational trails and trailside facilities. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) administers this program at the federal level while the District Department of Transportation administers the program for the District of Columbia. The Mayoral appointed Recreational Trails Advisory Committee meets once a year to advise DDOT on how RTP funds should be spent. This meeting is open to the public, but only Rec Trails Advisory Committee members have the ability to vote.
