DDOT to Open Mid Year Permit Application for Dockless Vehicle Operators

(Washington, DC) —Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced that it will reopen the 2019 Dockless Vehicle Application to new operators to expand micromobility options in the District.

Successful new applicants will be permitted to operate up to 600 dockless vehicles between July 1 through December 31, 2019. Successful applicants will be subject to the terms and conditions of the original permit, including quarterly fleet increases and reporting requirements. All dockless vehicle operators are required to reapply for a permit to operate in 2020.

“Allowing additional dockless vehicle operators increases options for riders and helps to reduce the reliance on automobiles in the District,” said DDOT Director Jeff Marootian.

The application deadline is June 14, 2019. DDOT will evaluate applications and issue permits to qualified dockless vehicle operators that have not previously been granted approval. The 2019 Mid-Year Dockless Vehicle Permit Application, along with instructions, FAQs, sample Terms and Conditions agreements, and the required data-reporting template, is available here.
