DDOT Expands TOPS Business Account Feature to Expedite Services and Make Permitting Easier for District Businesses

(Washington, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) today announced the successful launch and expansion of a new feature within the Transportation Online Permitting System (TOPS) that allows business professionals to link their existing TOPS accounts to their company’s business account. First introduced in May, the feature is now available to all eligible business account holders, providing a more efficient and convenient permitting experience.

The enhancement allows existing TOPS users to request access to their company’s business account directly through their profile settings, eliminating the need to create multiple accounts while allowing users to retain their existing login credentials.

This improvement supports professionals who regularly apply for permits in public space on behalf of their organizations and reflects DDOT’s ongoing commitment to modernizing digital services, reducing administrative burdens, and improving the customer experience.

Users linked to a business account may be eligible for several benefits, including:

  • Permit deposit waivers
  • Faster permit review turnaround for affiliated business users
  • Coordinated permitting activities under a single company account
  • Centralized oversight by an authorized business account administrator

Users who link their accounts within sixty (60) days will be immediately eligible for all available business account benefits, including permit deposit waivers. Accounts linked after this window may experience a delay in benefit activation.

The enhancement is part of DDOT’s continued investment in improving the Transportation Online Permitting System by making it easier for businesses to manage permits, coordinate projects, and access services through a single account.

How to Access the New Feature:

  • Log in to your existing TOPS account and navigate to your Profile Settings.
  • Submit a request to join your company’s business account.
  • Your company’s authorized business account administrator will review your request.
  • Once approved, your existing TOPS account will be associated with your company’s business account and eligible benefits will be applied.

Don’t know who your company’s account administrator is? Contact the TOPS Support Team for assistance identifying the appropriate contact.

Step-by-step instructions, including a registration guide and instructional video, are available within TOPS.

For additional information or assistance, please visit the TOPS website or contact the TOPS Support Team at [email protected] or call (202) 673-8313.
