Bridge and Tunnel Inspections for the Week of April 13

(Washington, D.C.) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections:

  • Westbound Whitehurst Freeway over Lower K Street NW and Water Street NW alternating right and left lane closures on Tuesday, April 14, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting
  • Eastbound Whitehurst Freeway over Lower K Street NW and Water Street NW alternating right and left lane closures on Wednesday, April 15, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting
  • 9th Street SW (Ramp C-1) over I-395 southbound/westbound (Ramp A) and Frontage Road SW, ramp narrows closure on Wednesday, April 15, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, weather permitting
  • Southbound I-695 over M Street SE, 11th Street SE, and CSXT Railroad left lane closure on Wednesday, April 15, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting
  • I-395 Southbound/Westbound (Ramp C) under 9th Street (Ramps M and C-1), S.W., left lane closure followed by a right shoulder closure on Thursday, April 16, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting
  • L’Enfant Promenade under 10th Street SW Mall alternating right and left lane closures on Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
