German Vigil is the Public Information Officer for DDOT where he manages the Public Information/Communication Division.
Prior to joining DDOT, German most recently served as the Director of Communications for the Baltimore City Department of Transportation, where he led strategic initiatives and community engagement efforts to address safety concerns across the city. Additionally, he helped lead communication strategies to address concerns during the beginning stages of the COVID-19 pandemic for both residents and city employees.
German is no stranger to District government. German spent seven years working for the DC Department of Public Works as their Public Affairs Specialist handling their social media accounts, website maintenance, and graphic design efforts and providing support for all snow and emergency realted matters. German also served as the Public Information Officer for the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs.
German is a native of El Salvador and earned his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University. He is excited to work with the DDOT to increase safe and accessible mobility opportunities for all District residents, businesses, workers, and visitors.
