Aaron Horton is the Associate Director of the Maintenance Division at DDOT.
Aaron has over 30 years of experience in Maintenance, Construction, Asset Management, and Administration while serving as an authority, subject matter expert, and advisor on the provision of safe, efficient, and effective infrastructure maintenance services. His management experience includes work prioritization, budget appropriation, work planning, and project construction of various assets, including but not limited to pavements, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, tunnels, and guiderails.
Aaron joined the District Department of Transportation in 2004 and has worked as Chief of Street and Bridge Maintenance, Chief of Asset Management, Citywide Snow Coordinator, and currently Associate Director of Maintenance. Prior to DDOT, he worked in the private industry as the Project Manager of the first urban-based Asset Management Contract in the US, DC Streets Contract.
Aaron also worked for NCDOT for nine years as Assistant Resident Engineer, Pavement Design Engineer, and Durham County Maintenance Engineer. Aaron has been in charge of a wide range of heavy highway construction, maintenance, and preservation projects and has been responsible for spending well over $1,000,000,000 to maintain District assets.
Aaron earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a registered Professional Engineer.
