The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) requires each State receiving funding under the National Highway Freight Program to develop a State Freight Plan that defines the immediate and long-range planning activities and investments of the State with respect to freight and adds several new elements that a State Freight Plan must include.
This document establishes updated goals and objectives for the District’s freight network. The completed plan uses an analysis of urban freight trends and stakeholder engagement to update implementation and investment strategies. This update includes all of the required elements of a state freight plan per IIJA and received approval from US DOT on August 15, 2024.
