The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites you to attend public meetings for the Alabama Avenue SE Safety Improvements Study (from Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE to Bowen Road/Ridge Road SE). DDOT will be hosting two meetings (one in Ward 7 and one in Ward 8) where an overview of the Study and design concepts will be discussed. Please join us to share your safety concerns and ideas for improving mobility for all users of Alabama Avenue SE.

Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced the planned deployment of automated traffic enforcement cameras to new locations including locations on the High Injury Network (HIN) locations throughout the District. The HIN locations are traffic sites where data analysis has identified Speeding and Speed running as safety issues.
DDOT's Interim Director Sharon Kershbaum and the Ward 8 Community Engagement Specialist will join ANC 8A Commissioners and residents to provide updates on current transportation studies and projects in 8A and DDOT service-related concerns in the area. Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced that it was awarded a $34 million grant by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for a project along East Capitol Street in Ward 7 that will improve transportation safety and mobility for all roadway users.
DDOT's Ward 3 Community Engagement Specialist will join Councilmember Frumin and his staff in a public outreach event to engage with residents on transportation topics/issues.
DDOT's Chief of Staff, DuPont Deck Over Project Manager, and the Ward 2 Community Engagement Specialist will join the Ward 2 Dupont Citizens Association meeting to provide updates for the Dupont Deck-Over project and answer DDOT service-related community questions. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT), with active support from the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and the Executive Office of the Mayor (EOM), is proposing the Connecticut Avenue NW/ William Howard Taft Memorial Bridge (Taft Bridge) Pedestrian Railing Improvement Project. Data from the District of Columbia’s Chief Medical Examiner’s Office indicates that 13 (50%) of the 26 bridge-related fatalities recorded in the District of Columbia between January 1, 2010 and January 1, 2022, occurred from the Taft Bridge.
