Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced PARK(ing) Day 2024 will be held on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The popular event temporarily converts on-street parking spaces into pop-up parks allowing people to visualize and explore alternative uses for curb space. Since 2013, the success of this event has led to the creation of more permanent public space activation programs, such as DDOT’s Parklet Program and Streatery Program.
DDOT will present the Traffic Operations and Parking Plan for the Capital One Arena and the Gallery Place/ Chinatown area.
Keith Jones, DDOT's Community Engagement Specialist for Ward 8, will be attending the ANC 8C monthly meeting. He will be joined by engineers from DDOT's Transit Delivery Division and Traffic Safety Engineers to provide updates on safety interventions for Malcolm X Street SE between 2nd Street and Newcomb Street SE.

DDOT's Community Engagement Manager, Tyler Williams, and the Ward Community Engagement Specialist, Christian Pineiro, will attend the Back-to-School Night event at MacArthur High School to discuss DDOT-related services and upcoming projects.
DDOT will host a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting to provide a general project update, discuss community feedback, and outline the approach to incorporating feedback into revisions for the proposed safety improvements.
