Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces that ticketing for Phase 1 of the Clear Lanes program will begin on November 15, 2023. Clear Lanes, in partnership with Metro, aims to improve bus travel times and enhance bus stop safety and accessibility by using cameras mounted on Metrobuses to identify vehicles illegally operating, parking, standing, or stopping in dedicated bus lanes and bus zones. Photos of violating vehicles are sent to DDOT, which will verify a qualifying offense.
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, to discuss the Metropolitan Branch Trail (Blair Rd to Piney Branch Rd NW). DDOT will present an overview of the project, updated designs, next steps and get feedback from the community. When completed, the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT) will be an 8-mile trail that runs from Union Station in the District of Columbia to Silver Spring in Maryland.
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will hold a virtual public meeting to discuss the recommended design for the rehabilitation of the Suitland Parkway Trail. The Suitland Parkway Trail is a 1.7-mile paved trail that runs along Suitland Parkway from Pomeroy Road SE to Southern Avenue SE.
DDOT's Ward 3 Community Engagement Specialist will participate in the Cleveland Park Community Association to provide DDOT service-related updates, including the Traffic Safety Input 2.0 process and report status updates and the streetscape and service lane project timeline.
DDOT's External Affairs and Project Delivery representatives will participate in a community discussion with Councilmember Lewis-George and ANC 4C and present findings and proposals to make improvements to Grant Circle and make it safer for all.
