Permit Applications

DDOT maintains an online application called the Transportation Online Permit System (d.TOPS), which allows users to apply online for public space permits. See also Permit Applications for Use in Public Space and Application Forms and Requirements for Public Space Usage.

Any resident or contractor who wishes to plant, prune, or remove a tree within the public right of way must first obtain permission from DDOT and the Urban Forestry Division (UFD) by applying online using the Transportation Online Permit System (d.TOPS).

Special Tree Removal Permit

The removal of public or private property trees at least 44 inches in circumference, which is equivalent to 14.01 inches in diameter, requires a Special Tree Removal Permit.
