Open Government Material
The District is committed to a transparent, open form of government. District agency websites are required to make certain records available online to the public if those records exist. In cases where these records exist but are not yet available online, agencies are working to provide them as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the FOIA Officer.

Common FOIA Requests
Traffic Camera Feed Requests
The District's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (DC HSEMA) utilizes DDOT's Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) traffic feeds for situational awareness during emergencies. To request access to DDOT's CCTV footage, please follow these steps:
-
Identify the camera from the list on the DC HSEMA website and note the name of the intersection. For example, "14th St & Pennsylvania Ave NW."
-
Specify the precise window of time, e.g., "November 30, 2023, between 10 am and 11 am."
-
Submit the request to the FOIA Officer at [email protected].
DDOT CCTV traffic feeds are automatically deleted after 90 days, including weekends and holidays. To ensure the highest chance of your request being fulfilled, it is recommended that you submit your request as soon as possible. To learn more about the DDOT CCTV Traffic Camera Feed locations accessible by DC HSEMA, visit https://hsema.dc.gov/open-government-foia-and-cctv-1.
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
If you cannot find the information you seek here or elsewhere on DC.gov, you can submit a FOIA request online via the DC government Public FOIA Portal. Requests may also be submitted by mail, fax, or email. However, please note that online FOIA requests will be easier to track and process. To understand the process before making a request, please see foia.dc.gov.
