Historian Dr. Jonathan Sarna, a leading expert on Jewish American history, presents his new book When General Grant Expelled the Jews.  As a Civil War general, Ulysses S. Grant expelled Jews from the area under his control in 1862. Grant later attended the 1876 dedication of the Adaas Israel Synagogue, today the Lillian & Albert Small Jewish Museum, making him the first sitting president to attend a synagogue service.
