Weekend Lane Closures on Southbound I-295 & South Capitol Street October 4 - 7
(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes on the following roadways beginning Friday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, weather permitting:
- The left lanes of traffic on 295, both northbound and southbound, between Malcolm X Avenue and Chesapeake Street will be closed reducing each direction to a single lane during this temporary closure.
- Full closure of South Capitol Street SE/SW between Malcolm X Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.
These lanes closures are necessary to complete work related to the Rehabilitation of the Anacostia Freeway Bridges over South Capitol Street.
During the full closure of South Capitol Street SE/SW, DDOT will provide variable message boards to alert the traveling public to these closures. Detour signs will also be prevalent along the closure route to guide motorists safely around each closure. DDOT encourages all motorists to stay alert while traveling through this busy corridor.
