Washington, DC - As part of the 11th Street Bridge Project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close M Street SE, between 11th Street and 12th Street SE, from 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014.
The inbound (westbound) I-695 Freeway Bridge exit ramp to M Street SE and Navy Yard will also be closed during this period. These closures will allow crews to continue the demolition of the old inbound freeway bridge over M Street SE.
These closures take effect again the following weekend, from 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Signed detours will be posted during the closures. Please see the map below for more information.
• Northbound I-295 and southbound DC-295 traffic will be detoured to the 11th Street Local Bridge to access M Street SE via 11th Street SE.
• Local traffic wishing to access facilities east of 12th Street SE will be detoured through O Street SE.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
