Temporary Ramp and Lane Closures on DC-295 Begin March 29
ANACOSTIA FREEWAY BRIDGES OVER NICHOLSON STREET PROJECT
(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the entrance ramp to DC-295 southbound at Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, to perform bridge rehabilitation work, during two consecutive weekends beginning Friday, March 29, weather permitting.
The first closure will begin on Friday March 29, at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, April 1 at 5:00 a.m., weather permitting. The second weekend entrance ramp closures will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, and continue through 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, weather permitting.
The DC-295 southbound entrance ramp at Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, will also be closed on weeknights from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5.
The right lane on DC-295 southbound from East Capitol Street, SE to the I-695 ramp will be closed from Saturday, March 30 at 6:00 a.m. until Monday, April 1 at 5:00 a.m.
Vehicles will be detoured for the ramp closure using Minnesota Avenue, Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, as indicated in the map below. Significant delays should be expected around the project area and motorists are advised to use an alternative route, if possible.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas and guide them through the construction zone. Drivers are advised to take an alternate route or alternate travel times to avoid delays, stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
