Temporary Ramp and Lane Closures on DC-295 Begin March 15

Closures required for the Anacostia Freeway Bridges over Nicholson Street Project

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the entrance ramp to DC-295 southbound at Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, during weekends to perform bridge rehabilitation work. The weekend entrance ramp closures will begin on March 15 and continue through Monday, April 8, weather permitting.

The Pennsylvania Ave entrance ramp to DC-295 will be closed on the following weekends, weather permitting:

  • Friday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, March 18 at 5:00 a.m.
  • Friday, March 22 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, March 25 at 5:00 a.m.
  • Friday, March 29 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, April 1 at 5:00 a.m.
  • Friday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, April 8 at 5:00 a.m.

The DC-295 southbound entrance ramp at Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, will also be closed on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, March 18 until Friday, March 22.

Vehicles will be detoured for the ramp closure using Minnesota Avenue, Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, as indicated in the map below. Significant delays should be expected around the project area and motorists are advised to use an alternative route, if possible.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas and guide them through the construction zone. Drivers are advised to take an alternate route or alternate travel times to avoid delays, stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
