(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close a travel lane and restrict parking along 17th Street NE starting at Benning Road and ending just south of C Street NE. The closure and restriction will occur 7 am to 5 pm, Monday, August 28 through Wednesday, August 30, weather permitting.

The traffic changes are necessary to facilitate milling and resurfacing work along Benning Road. Additionally, users of the corridor are advised there will be electrical and lighting work happening simultaneously at the intersection of Potomac Avenue SE and 17th Street SE.

These activities are part of the ongoing construction work on the 17th Street Infrastructure Improvement Project from Benning Road NE to Barney Circle SE.

Traffic controls and flaggers will be in place to warn drivers approaching the area. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays and are advised to use caution as they travel through this corridor.

The mission of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is to enhance the quality of life for District residents and visitors by ensuring that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment
