(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close the far right northbound lane of I-295 from the Pennsylvania Avenue eastbound exit ramp, to the Pennsylvania Avenue westbound exit ramp from July 26 until August 3, weather permitting.
Two northbound lanes will remain open to traffic during this time. The right shoulder on this stretch of I-295 is closed and will remain closed through the completion of the bridge rehabilitation project.
Construction will be done during the day from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm and overnight from 8:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Work will not be done during the morning or evening rush hours. No weekend work is scheduled.
The work is required for ongoing bridge rehabilitation work that is being conducted in that area.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas and guide them through the construction area. Motorists should anticipate moderate delays due to the lane closure. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
