Temporary Lane Closure on 17th Street NE Begins December 18

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close a travel lane and restrict parking along 17th Street NE from D Street NE to just south of A Street NE. The closure and parking restrictions will occur from 7 am to 5 pm, Monday, December 18 through Wednesday, December 20, weather permitting.

The traffic changes are necessary to facilitate milling and resurfacing work along 17th Street NE. Users of the corridor are advised there will be gas main work happening simultaneously in the unit block of 17th Street NE and construction work will continue on 17th Street SE.

These activities are part of the ongoing 17th Street Infrastructure Improvement Project from Benning Road NE to Barney Circle SE.

Traffic controls and flaggers will be in place to warn drivers approaching the area.

Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays and are advised to use caution as they travel through this work zone.

The mission of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is to enhance the quality of life for District residents and visitors by ensuring that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment.
