Temporary Lane Closures on 17th Street SE Begin June 11
(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close travel lanes and restrict parking along 17th Street starting at A Street NE ending at Potomac Avenue SE to resurface the roadway.
Milling and paving operations are expected to take four weeks to complete and parking restrictions will occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
Temporary lane closures will take place between 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Side streets may be restricted to local access and detours will be used as needed.
The traffic changes are necessary to facilitate milling, roadway base repairs, and resurfacing work along 17th Street SE. Additionally, residents and travelers of the corridor are advised that utility work will occur simultaneously along the 100 to 400 blocks of 17th Street SE.
These activities are part of the ongoing construction work on the 17th Street Infrastructure Improvement Project from Benning Road NE to Barney Circle SE.
Traffic controls and flaggers will be in place to warn drivers approaching the area. Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to use caution as they travel through this corridor and to consider alternate routes.
