Media Contact: Reggie Sanders (202) 437-0809, [email protected]

(Washington, D.C.) –As part of the 11th Street Bridge project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the two right lanes on eastbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) between the 3rd Street Tunnel (I-395 North) exit and South Capitol Street SE on June 30, July 1 and July 2, 2014, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Motorists will also encounter a right-lane closure on the Maine Avenue SW on-ramp to eastbound I-695 during these times as well.

Additionally, the 7th Street SW on-ramp to eastbound I-695 and the eastbound I-695 exit ramp to the 3rd Street Tunnel (I-395 North) will also be closed overnight from 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

The closures are needed to allow crews to install new overhead sign panels over the freeway. During the ramp closures, signed detours will be posted.

·         7th Street SW traffic will be detoured to D Street SW, then to 9th Street SE to access eastbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway).

·         3rd Street Tunnel traffic will continue on eastbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) and follow the posted detour route to 6th Street SW, and then to I Street SW to access northbound I-395.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
