Nighttime Closure of 11th Street SE Between M Street and K Street Scheduled to Occur March 31-April 1, 2014

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Washington, DC - As part of the 11th Street Bridge Project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close 11th Street, SE, between M Street and K Street, from 7 pm on Monday, March 31, to 5 am on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

The 11th Street, SE access ramp to westbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) will also be closed during this closure. The work will allow crews to begin demolition of the existing inbound bridge structure over 11th Street.

This emergency closure is required due to recent inclement weather that delayed a closure that was scheduled to take place this past weekend.  This closure will allow crews to complete the demolition of the existing inbound bridge structure over 11th Street.

Signed detours will be posted during the closures. Please see the instructions below and the attached map for more information:

  • Northbound 11th Street, SE traffic will be detoured via M Street, SE to 8th Street, SE, then onto G Street, SE to access 11th Street, SE north of K Street, SE.
  • Motorists traveling southbound on 11th Street, SE will be detoured to I Street, SE, then to 8th Street, SE and M Street, SE to access 11th Street, SE south of M Street, SE.
  • Motorists seeking access to westbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) will follow the posted detour routes to I Street, SE to the 3rd Street on-ramp to westbound I-695/I-395.
  • Southbound 11th Street, SE access will be maintained to K Street, SE.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
