FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Thursday, April 20 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick off AlleyPalooza 5.0 – a multimillion dollar infrastructure campaign to repair or reconstruct eight alleys in eight wards over eight weeks across Washington, DC. For the first time, the campaign will include the construction of five alleys with permeable pavement, a Green Infrastructure (GI) technique that mimics natural conditions to capture and filter storm water runoff before polluting rivers and streams.
Since 2015, Mayor Bowser has invested $175 million in local infrastructure, roads, alleys, and sidewalks. DC residents who want their alleys to be included in future AlleyPalooza renovations are encouraged to report their alley repair service requests to 311.
