(Washington, DC) -- The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement lane and sidewalk closures on South Capitol Street, SE, between Southern Avenue, SE, and First Street, SE, starting Thursday, April 13 through Friday, May 12, from 7:30 am through 3:30 pm, weather permitting. The closures will allow for sidewalk, ADA, curb and gutter improvements as part of the rehabilitation of the Oxon Run Trail Park.

The two northbound lanes on South Capitol Street, SE, will be reduced to one lane with the far right lane remaining closed during construction. Temporary signs and barricades will be in place to alert and guide the traveling public through this area.

DDOT encourages all commuters, motorists and pedestrians to be alert as they travel along this corridor. All construction-related work and dates are subject to change, depending on weather, material and contract availability or other unforeseen conditions.

The mission of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is to enhance the quality of life for District residents and visitors by ensuring that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment.
