(Washington, DC)-- The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be instituting street closures and detours in and around the Third Street Tunnel Infrastructure Project beginning 8 am, Saturday, October 28. This work will end on Saturday.

The closures include:

  • Massachusetts Avenue, between 2nd and 4th Streets NW
  • 3rd Street, between G and H Streets NW
  • 4th Street, between G and H Streets NW

The suggested alternate route west is north on 2nd Street or New Jersey Avenue to K Street. The suggested alternate route east is south on 4th Street to E Street or east on E Street.

The closures and detours accommodate the transfer of traffic signals from temporary to permanent and will remain in place until all new signal systems are fully operational.

Pedestrian and vehicular access to and from residences within the work zone will be managed via signage, barriers and flagging personnel.

For additional details please contact the project’s public outreach office (202-719-0196) or visit www.3rdsttunnel.com.
