DC Circulator Welcomes the Holiday Season with
2nd Annual Winter Wonder Bus
and Special ZooLights Shuttle
(Washington, DC) -- Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the launch of the second annual Winter Wonder Bus – a special DC Circulator decorated with a festive winter theme. The Winter Wonder Bus will begin service on Friday, November 23. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will also offer a special weekend evening DC Circulator shuttle to the annual ZooLights exhibit at the Smithsonian's National Zoo beginning the same day.
This year’s Winter Wonder Bus theme “How Zoo Animals Celebrate the Holidays” is a nod to ZooLights, a family-friendly winter tradition in the District and part of the Smithsonian's National Zoo holiday celebration.
"This year, we’re making it easier for residents and visitors to check out one of our favorite winter events in the District – ZooLights,” said Mayor Bowser. "There are many great reasons to visit Washington, DC during the winter and these holiday buses are one of them. The Winter Wonder Bus is one small way we can spread joy around DC, and that’s something we’re always happy to do.”
The Winter Wonder Bus will begin service on the National Mall route and rotate across all six routes throughout its nearly six-week run, as a reminder to residents and visitors that DC Circulator is an affordable option for traveling around our nation’s capital with ease.
From November 23 – January 1 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the DC Circulator will offer shuttle service to the Smithsonian's National Zoo during ZooLights exhibit hours. The bus will operate a special loop between Woodley Park Metro Station and the Zoo's Panda Plaza Bus Lot from 5 pm – 10 pm. This shuttle service will mirror the fares and payment policy of the Circulator’s standard service with a cost of just $1 per trip.
Families will also be able to enjoy the DC Circulator to access the holiday markets and events throughout the city.
