Anovia Daniels joined the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) in December 2019 as the manager of the Community Engagement Division where she is responsible for maintaining open communication and support for the community, the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS), Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs), and the Council of the District of Columbia to find solutions for transportation-related matters and coordinate, assess and address community and ANC requests.
Prior to this position, Anovia was the Communications Manager at the District Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) where she managed all communication, branding, events, and marketing operations of the agency. Throughout her time at DCRA, she also managed the Customer Service Department and Community Engagement team. While at DCRA, Anovia managed the launch and implementation of the first ever customer service text messaging campaign in the District Government, leading three customer service surveys for government functions and led the rebranding project for the agency. Prior to DCRA, she was a Communications Analyst and Advisory Neighborhood Commissions Outreach Specialist at the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor (ODCA) where she developed and implemented strategic communication plans for the agency and supported ANCs with ODCA’s operational and project needs.
Prior to joining the District of Columbia Government, Anovia was the Communication and Public Relations Manager at SnowSports Industries America (SIA) where she led all public relations, partnership and communication operations for the association and over 600 members.
Anovia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in English at Saint Augustine’s University, a historically black college/university in Raleigh, North Carolina and a Master of Arts degree in Public Communications from American University in the District of Columbia.
