Lee Goodall is the Chief of Staff for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT). Lee joined the agency in January 2018, serving as the agency’s Head of Community Engagement responsible for outreach to the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS), Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs), and the District Council. In his new role he will help manage the activity of agency staff and programs to ensure the successful fulfillment of DDOT’s mission. Lee offers nearly 16 years of leadership and management experience focused on public outreach, engagement, marketing, and customer-oriented project delivery.
Prior to DDOT, Lee was a management consultant at Grossman Heinz, a public affairs firm, where he oversaw the firm’s advocacy and engagement portfolio for national, state, and local clients. He was instrumental in advising and establishing public campaigns and enrollment operations to implement the Affordable Care Act.
Lee has also been a political and community organizer at the local, state, and national level. During President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns, he covered six states and held various roles, including State Director. During the 2008 campaign, he led an initiative to empower historically disenfranchised citizens that collected over 220,000 voter registration applications. After the election, he stayed in Atlanta to serve as the Georgia State Director with Organizing for America where he led a team to identify and train residents on how to participate in policy-making at every level of government. He subsequently served as the Midwest Political Director at the Democratic National Committee during the 2012 cycle. Prior to 2008, Lee worked for five years in sales and customer service at Morgan Stanley.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from Northwestern University and is a native of Chicago.
