Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections Begin December 3 2013

DDOT will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network from Tuesday, December 3 to Friday, December 6, 2013

Washington DC - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network from Tuesday, December 3 to Friday, December 6, 2013.  These activities will require single lane closures and take place during off peak hours between 10 am and 3 pm, weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Key Bridge East Ramp to Whitehurst Freeway

Tuesday, December 3, 2013
There will be a right-side closure of the Key Bridge east ramp to the Whitehurst Freeway.

Connecticut Avenue NW Bridge Over Rock Creek

Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5, 2013
There will be concurrent left-lane closures on southbound and northbound Connecticut Avenue NW over Rock Creek.

Friday, December 6, 2013
There will be a right-lane closure on northbound Connecticut Avenue NW followed by a right-lane closure of southbound Connecticut Avenue NW.

Anacostia Freeway (I-295) Ramp Over South Capitol Street

Thursday, December 5, 2013
There will be alternating right and left lane closures of the southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) exit ramp over South Capitol Street, followed by alternating right and left lane closures of northbound South Capitol Street under the ramp. (Please see attached image for location of this work.)

9th Street NE Bridge over New York Avenue and Nearby Railroad Tracks

Tuesday, December 3 to Thursday, December 5, 2013
There will be alternating right lane closures of southbound and northbound 9th Street NE over New York Avenue and the nearby railroad tracks.

Friday, December 6, 2013
There will be alternating right and left lane closures of westbound New York Avenue NE under the 9th Street NE Bridge, followed by alternating right and left lane closures of eastbound New York Avenue under the bridge.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
