Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections Begin December 10

These activities will require single lane closures and take place during off peak hours between 10 am and 3 pm, weather permitting.

Washington DC - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network from Tuesday, December 10 to Friday, December 13, 2013.  These activities will require single lane closures and take place during off peak hours between 10 am and 3 pm, weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

I-395 over the Washington Channel

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

There will be a right-lane closure on eastbound I-395 over the Washington Channel, which is adjacent to the Southwest Waterfront and the Maine Avenue Fish Market (aka “the Wharf”). 

East Capitol Street Bridge over the Anacostia River (Whitney Young Memorial Bridge)

Wednesday, December 11, 2013
There will be a right-lane closure on eastbound East Capitol Street.

Thursday, December 12, 2013
There will be a right-lane closure on eastbound East Capitol Street, followed by a right- lane closure on westbound East Capitol Street.

Friday, December 13, 2013
There will be a right-lane closure of westbound East Capitol Street.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
