Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network from Monday, June 30 to Tuesday, July 1, 2014.  These activities will require single-lane closures and take place during off-peak hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Pennsylvania Avenue over Anacostia River, Anacostia Park Drive, M Street SE and CSX Railroad Tracks Freeway over K Street NW

Monday, June 30, 2014 
There will be a right-lane closure of southbound Pennsylvania Avenue over Anacostia River, Anacostia Park Drive, M Street SE and CSX Railroad Tracks, followed by a left lane closure of southbound Pennsylvania Avenue over Anacostia River, Anacostia Park Drive, M Street SE and CSX Railroad Tracks

Tuesday, July 1, 2014
There will be a right-lane closure of northbound Pennsylvania Avenue over Anacostia River, Anacostia Park Drive, M Street, SE and CSX Railroad Tracks, followed by a left lane closure of northbound Pennsylvania Avenue over Anacostia River, Anacostia Park Drive, M Street SE and CSX Railroad Tracks.

Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Firth Sterling Avenue and CSX Railroad

Monday, June 30, 2014
There will be a right lane closure of westbound Firth Sterling Avenue under the Anacostia Freeway, followed by a right lane closure of eastbound Firth Sterling Avenue under the Anacostia Freeway.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to observe the inspection personnel.
