Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections

Washington, DC - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network from Monday, June 16 to Thursday, June 19, 2014.  These activities will require single-lane closures and take place during off-peak hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (I-66) over the Potomac River and Potomac Parkway

Monday, June 16, 2014

There will be a right-lane closure of westbound I-66 over the Potomac River and Potomac Parkway.

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

There will be a right- lane closure of eastbound I-66 over the Potomac River and Potomac Parkway.

Suitland Parkway under the Anacostia Freeway (I-295)

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

There will be alternating right- and left-lane closures of northbound Suitland Parkway under the Anacostia Freeway (I-295), followed by alternating right- and left-lane closures of westbound Anacostia Freeway over Suitland Parkway, culminating in alternating right- and left-lane closures of eastbound Anacostia Freeway over Suitland Parkway.

9th Street Expressway under the Mall

There will be alternating right- and left-lane closures of southbound 9th Street under the Mall.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas. Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
