WASHINGTON, DC - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin making repairs to ramps along the Anacostia Freeway (I-295) during an ongoing project that is scheduled to take place from Friday, March 15 to Friday, April 5. This road work will take place from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during this period.
This activity will require full ramp closures and where possible the activity will be conducted on one side of the ramp to allow traffic to continue to flow.
When ramps are fully closed detours will be clearly marked to guide motorists through the area.
This road work is scheduled to take place in the following increments:
Friday, March 15 to Friday, March 22
Single lane closures on the ramp from northbound South Capitol Street to northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295). Rush hour restrictions will be imposed during this period. During the evening rush hour the traffic will be on the outbound side of South Capitol Street.
Monday, March 25 to Friday, March 29
Full closure of the ramp from southbound South Capitol Street to southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295). Traffic will be detoured to the next ramp.
Monday, April 1 to Friday, April 5
Work will be conducted on the ramp from eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue to southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295). This work will require single lane closures.
Variable message boards will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled closures.
