Sidewalk Repair
Description/Schedule of Service
You can request sidewalk repair services by calling the Mayor's Citywide Call Center at 311 or completing a service request online using the District government's Service Request Center. Identify the specific location of the problem on the sidewalk and describe the type of sidewalk (i.e. concrete or brick). Provide information as to the severity of the damage (i.e. cracked or broken, missing bricks, tree roots pushing up through the sidewalk). A service request will be put into the tracking system, and the resident will receive a service request number.
Scheduled Response Time
- Investigation — 1-10 days
- Resolution — Temporary (emergency) repairs 5-7 days
- Permanent resolution depends upon the findings of the investigation
- Permanent repairs require a longer timeframe and depend upon funding availability
NOTE: A "new" sidewalk request requires a majority petition and a public hearing.
Further Action
DDOT's standard is to resolve sidewalk repair requests within 25 business days of the time they are reported (up to 10 days to investigate and an additional 15 days to resolve). |
