DDOT Conducts Tunnel Maintenance

(Washington, DC) Beginning Tuesday, August 15, through Friday, August 25, 2006, District Department of Transportation (DDOT) crews are scheduled to wash the following tunnels for preventive maintenance: 9th Street Tunnel, 12th Street Tunnels (172N & 172S), Mall Tunnel and Ramps, and the Air Rights Tunnel.
Work on the tunnels will be conducted in the evening between the hours of 7 pm and 5 am.
Temporary lane closures will be necessary during the cleaning. A single lane closure will be implemented for the majority of the work. DDOT contractor crews will utilize a double lane closure when washing the ceiling over the middle lane at the Mall Tunnel.
