DDOT and MPD Team Up on Child Safety

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT), in coordination with its partners at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), will install child safety seats during National Night Out 2006 tomorrow. On Tuesday, August 1, 2006, DDOT and MPD will properly install child safety seats into vehicles at 1800 Columbia Road, NW, between 4 pm and 9 pm.

Officials will set up a Child Safety Seat station to perform seat installations and provide safety information on child restraint and seat belt laws. Residents can bring child safety seats to be properly installed in their vehicles.

The Child Safety Seat station will be located on the plaza at 18th Street and Columbia Road, Northwest. Signs will direct drivers where to pull in to a driveway near the intersection.

For more information on MPD activities during National Night Out, please visit the Metropolitan Police Department's website.
