The Safe Routes to School funds were included in the transportation reauthorization bill signed into law on August 10.

For drivers, this includes obeying the speed limit, stopping for, or yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk, especially when turning, obeying traffic signals, not drinking and driving and always looking out for pedestrians and cyclists.

For bicyclists, this means always wearing a helmet, riding with traffic and following traffic laws rules of the road, not riding on the sidewalk downtown and always using a headlight, taillight, and reflective clothing at night.

For motorcyclists and motor scooter drivers, this means always wearing a helmet and protective gear, obeying speed and traffic laws, riding to be seen and so you can see, giving yourself space to react to other vehicles others and using your headlight.
