The study is developing concepts to improve the connections between South Capitol Street, M Street, Suitland Parkway, I-295, Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, and Firth Sterling Avenue. Some of these roads and their intersections and interchanges were designed to carry through traffic with little regard for neighborhood connections and aesthetic characteristics. Reconfiguring the connections can improve traffic operations and safety, restore public open space, and eliminate barriers in the area.
