Providing Engineering Guidance
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Office Manual for Construction Management (CM) presents DDOT’s procedures and standards for managing and administering construction projects.
This document describes the procedures for reviewing and approving requests for new or modified access to the Interstate and Freeway system within the District of Columbia.
Nationally recognized guidelines for street and highway design recommend that sidewalks be constructed in areas with pedestrian activity, especially in residential and school areas.
DDOT is committed to improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods and addressing traffic-related safety issues throughout the city.
The guidelines provided in this manual may be used as a resource in preparing a traffic control plan to submit with your public space permit application for your proposed work zone or construction staging area on public space.
The twenty-one (21) approved traffic control plan (TCP) typicals are used for utility excavation.
This report is an update of District of Columbia Streetlight Policy and Design Guidelines which provides a framework for a uniform streetlight policy throughout the City.
