(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) wants to ensure DC Circulator riders are aware of a number of service changes that took effect this week. The changes include the addition of a new route between the Dupont Circle and Rosslyn Metro Stations, and some adjustments in existing routes based on passenger requests.
Dupont Circle – Georgetown – Rosslyn Route
This is the new route, which replaces the Georgetown Metro Connection (also known as the “Blue Bus”).
This line operates from 7 am to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and from 7 am to 2 am Friday and Saturday. The route and stops are shown on the map below.

Union Station – Georgetown Route
Circulator buses on the Union Station – Georgetown line now enter Georgetown on lower K Street, serve the Wisconsin Avenue corridor, and exit Georgetown on M Street heading toward Union Station.
Because of now overlapping service on M Street with the addition of the Dupont Circle – Rosslyn line, and at the request of many passengers, DDOT decided to return service to lower K Street in Georgetown as it had been served prior to 2008.
This change required the elimination of the following westbound stops on this line:
- 24th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
- 25th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
- 28th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
- 30th Street and M Street
- 31st Street and M Street.
Each of these stops is still served by Metrobus routes 32, 36, and 38B. The nearest Circulator stop is at 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, on the opposite side of Washington Circle.
Also, late night service on this route – which used to go from Georgetown to 17th and K, will now be extended to 14th and K, allowing passengers to transfer between lines at Franklin Square and the McPherson Square Metro Station.
Union Station – Navy Yard Route
Service on this line has been streamlined near Columbus Circle in front of Union Station, providing a faster trip and allowing passengers to transfer between the Georgetown route and Navy Yard route on Massachusetts Avenue.
Stops have also been added on Seward Square (Pennsylvania Avenue at 5th Street SE) on Capitol Hill. Because of construction to begin this fall on Columbus Circle, the stop at Delaware Avenue had to be discontinued for passenger safety.
Woodley Park/Adams Morgan – McPherson Square Route
Service on this line will now avoid southbound traffic delays by exiting Thomas Circle at Massachusetts Avenue and traveling toward Franklin Square on 13th Street. A new stop has been added on 13th Street at K Street.
